RADFORD – A shooting in Radford on Thursday, April 17 has led to two people being charged in connection with the incident.
Radford Police responded to a 911 call about gunshots fired at 3:03 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of East Main St. The incident led to a shelter in place for Radford University and Radford City Public Schools. Two people were injured in the shooting.
“Following the investigation, charges have been filed against two individuals in connection to the crime,” the Radford City Police Department announced Friday, April 18.
Robert Leonard, 47, of Radford, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Sidney Schwartz, 22, of Elliston, has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to use a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding.
“This investigation remains active and ongoing,” the department announced. “Further details will be released as they become available.”
