The body of Damien Sawyers, 33, who had been missing since Feb. 14, was found Saturday, Feb. 22 and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is treating his death as suspicious.
“This morning the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Chrisman Mill area of Montgomery County after a citizen discovered the body of a deceased male,” stated the MCSO on Saturday. “Investigators with the sheriff’s office are treating this as a suspicious death and [it] is an active investigation, therefore no additional information will be released at this time. However, there is no immediate threat to the community.”
Sawyer’s sister, Latesha Carbaugh, and the AWARE Foundation had been posting about her brother being missing since a few days after Carbaugh last saw him walking into a wooded area near a trailer park of Route 114 in Montgomery County just outside Christiansburg. His body was found not far from where he went missing.
