Elizabeth Ann Yost McCoy passed away peacefully under Comfort Care Hospice at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center on Feb. 18, 2025. She was born in Tazewell, Va., in the Back Valley, on Oct. 2, 1934.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, John D. Yost and Virginia A. Neel Yost; brothers, Carl D. Yost and Phillip M. Yost; and sister Juanita M. Yost Cox.
Those left to share her memories and recipes are her husband, Joseph C. McCoy; daughters, Lou Ann Slagel (Zach), Lisa McCoy and Ginny McCoy (Beth); grandchildren, Ashley Slagel-Perry (Erika), Koehler Slagel (Natalie), and Tanner Slagel (Sara); great-grandchildren, Francisco Slagel-Perry, Adolfo Slagel-Perry, Eva Cathern Slagel and Mabry Slagel.
Ann loved dearly and shared many special memories with her nieces/nephews, and great nieces/nephews. She enjoyed phone conversations and “old-fashioned mail” with family and friends, including Belspring Presbyterian Church friends.
Ann did not want a memorial service, and the family will honor her wishes. Her ashes will be spread in the Back Valley, in Tazewell at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your place of worship or charity in her memory.
The family would like to thank the following for the compassion and care they have shown to Ann/Mom and the family over the last few years and during her stay at the hospital: Elizabeth Poor, NP-C, Tamera Howell, MD, the staff at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center Surgical Floor and Comfort Care Hospice staff.
The McCoy family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
