Ruby Nell Bishop Moles, a loving mother, grandmother and friend, received her heavenly reward on Feb. 15, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on March 8, 1937, in Willis, Virginia, Ruby was the first of five children born to George Cleveland Bishop and Ruby Simmons Bishop. She spent her entire life in the heart of Willis, though her love for the beach took her to many cherished trips to the ocean over the years.
A woman of deep love for her family, Ruby treasured every moment spent with her loved ones. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from tending to her beautiful flowers to watching the birds feed from her bird feeders. Ruby had an immense affection for family gatherings and enjoyed the company of both family and friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her previous husband Earl Moles, and her beloved sister-in-law Barbara Bishop. She leaves behind her daughter, Debbie Slaughter (Tommy); grandson, Jason Slaughter (Alicia); and great-grandchildren Alison, Marlee, and Jasie Slaughter. She is also survived by her brothers, Ronnie (Stephania) and Allen; sisters, JoAnn Hatcher (Donnie) and Joyce Lester (Ronnie); as well as many special nieces and nephews, including Kevin Bishop, Ann Durham (Dean), Chad Hatcher (Susan), Lori Greenfield, and Eric Lester. Her very special great-niece, Elizabeth Sheppard (Logan), and dear friends, Howard and Hilda Dickerson, will forever cherish her memory, as will many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held in Ruby’s honor on Sunday, Feb. 23, 1:30 p.m. at Harris Chapel Church, located at 3711 Conner Grove Road, Willis, Va. The service will be officiated by Pastors Kenneth Poston and Marcus Wood.
Ruby’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her, and she will be dearly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. We should all have peace knowing that one day soon we will see her again in the presence of Jesus.
