Rosa Marion Boyd, was born on Oct. 29, 1934, to Robert J. Boyd and Gladys Dobbins Boyd in Radford. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Robert Boyd, Jr.; brothers John Thomas and James R. “Buzzie”; husbands Fred Calfee, Jr., John Lewis Beaver, and Elder Dr. David A. Powell, Sr.; son Tony Calfee; and daughter, Thermelia (Terri).

She graduated from Christiansburg Institute in 1952, Virginia Business School in 1955, received her cosmetology license in 1985, attended three years at Bethlehem Bible College, and was a notary since 1980. She was secretary and later President of the Twin City Garden Club, Treasurer of Radford Women’s Club, served five years on the Radford Department of Social Services, and worked one year at Floyd Community Action. She was an usher and choir member at Zion Hill Baptist Church, usher at Radford COGIC, and a member at New Beginning Church.

She was employed at Caesar’s Cleaners in Radford for 17 years, and in the business office at Radford Hospital for 11 years, and a greeter at Walmart before taking other jobs.

She enjoyed people, music, sewing, crocheting, making quilts, and sending cards. She was a Red Cross volunteer in Radford and at Angels in the Attic in Floyd.

Survivors include daughters Teresa Calfee-Sherman and Connie Calfee Basham; sons Theron Calfee, David Powell, Jr. (Norma), Andrew Powell (Lois) and Elder Percy Powell (Van); 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special Elder Mike Reynolds.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone for all their acts of kindness, especially neighbors, Angels in the Attic, Dr. Joel Hullett, Dr. Sudhendu Choubey, and the staff at Richfield Rehab.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Sunrise Burial Park, Fairlawn. The family received friends prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
