RADFORD – Due to the public’s tremendous generosity, The Radford City Schools Partners for Excellence Foundation, a fundraising engine for Radford City Schools focused on promoting academics, arts, and athletics, recently assisted the school division with a much-needed facility renovation of the Radford High School girls’ and boys’ locker rooms, as well as renovation of all of the high school science rooms and labs.
Additionally, the Partners Foundation and the Radford High School Foundation used residual funds to re-surface the Radford High School Basketball Court, which was named in honor of retired basketball coach Rick Cormany. With these successful project completions, we now turn our attention and efforts to the next item on the school division’s prioritized list – total replacement of the Radford High School track.
Unfortunately, the current track can no longer be repaired.
For the replacement, the school division has located contractors and secured quotes. The total cost for the new track at Radford High School is $1,183,000. The Radford City School Division has budgeted $750,000 toward the total cost. The Partners Foundation has kicked off our campaign to raise the remaining $433,000. This project also will provide pole vaulting locations as well as a new high jump area; therefore, the Partners Foundation is attempting to secure this funding by spring 2025, the tentative start timeframe.
Public/private partnerships can make purposeful and meaningful contributions to our school division; therefore, may we ask that all Bobcat Supporters consider a donation of any size for this project? Many, many thanks for your continued support of the Partners for Excellence Foundation and Radford City Schools.
Please make checks payable to the Partners Foundation and write “Track Donation” on the memo line and mail to: Partners for Excellence Foundation, Inc. P.O Box 355, Radford, Virginia 24143.
