Blacksburg student named to Bucknell University Dean’s List
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell University has released the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2024-25 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition. Charlie MacKenzie, Computer Engineering, of Blacksburg, has been named to the dean’s list.
Radford student named to NC State Dean’s List
Maxwell Kanipe, of Radford, was named to the NC State Fall 2024 dean’s list with a perfect 4.0 average. Kanipe majoring in mechanical engineering.
Carson-Newman University recognizes Dean’s List students for fall semester
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn – The following Carson-Newman University students made dean’s list for the Fall 2024 semester: Katey Mathena, of Blacksburg, and Addie Saunders, of Radford. The university awards dean’s list honors to students earning a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.9 while taking 12 or more credit hours. Eastern Mennonite University announces Fall 2024 Dean’s List
HARRISONBURG – Eastern Mennonite University congratulates the Fall 2024 dean’s list honorees. The dean’s list, compiled at the end of each semester, includes degree-seeking students who achieve a semester GPA of at least 3.75 with no W, I, or F grades for 12 semester hours of standard grades. Blacksburg student named to Western Carolina University’s Fall 2024 Chancellor’s List
CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Congratulations to Callie Addikis, of Blacksburg, for being named to the Western Carolina University Fall 2024 Chancellor’s List. Addikis was among more than 2,000 students to achieve this honor. To qualify for the Chancellor’s List, students must earn a GPA of 3.8 or higher while completing a minimum of 12 credit hours. Students named to the Chancellor’s List are also named to the Dean’s List.
Local students earn Dean’s List, President’s List honors at Shenandoah University for Fall 2024
WINCHESTER – Ohanna Napper of Radford and Nicklas Bissey of Christiansburg have earned a spot on the dean’s list and the president’s list at Shenandoah University for the Fall 2024 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must be enrolled full-time in baccalaureate degree programs and earn a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher. To qualify for the prestigious academic recognition of President’s list, students must be enrolled full-time in baccalaureate degree programs and attain a semester GPA of 3.90 or higher. Shenandoah University was established in 1875, and is headquartered at the top of Virginia, in Winchester, Virginia, with additional educational sites in Clarke and Loudoun counties.

Local students named to Bridgewater College’s Fall 2024 Dean’s List
BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Dean’s List for the 2024 fall semester at Bridgewater College has been announced by Associate Provost Dr. Jamie J. Frueh. More than 590 students were named to the list. Students on the Dean’s List have attained a 3.4 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0. Emelyn Koene, an English and strategic communications double major from Blacksburg, was named to the Dean’s List. DELAWARE, Ohio – Spencer Amacher of Blacksburg, has been named to the 2024 fall semester Dean’s List at Ohio Wesleyan University. Christiansburg student named to Fall Dean’s List at Cedarville University
CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Avery Carver of Christiansburg was named to the Dean’s List at Cedarville University for Fall 2024. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.50 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours. Blacksburg student named to Trine University President’s List
ANGOLA, Indiana – Sarah Weatherspoon of Blacksburg, a Trine University student, was named to the President’s List for the Fall 2024 term. Weatherspoon is majoring in Elementary Education/Special Ed Dual Licensure. To earn President’s List honors, Trine University students must complete a minimum of 12 hours and have a grade point average of 3.750-4.000.
Blacksburg student named to Cumberlands Dean’s List for Fall ’24 semester
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – In recognition of academic performance, the Office of Academic Affairs at University of the Cumberlands has announced Kaibryn Mandell of Blacksburg has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2024 semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours (a full course load), maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 for the semester, and be in good academic standing.
Radford student among Belmont University’s Fall 2024 Dean’s List scholars

Blacksburg student graduates from the University of Georgia
Samuel Reed Kirk is one of over 3,200 candidates to be recognized in the University of Georgia’s Class of 2024 fall Commencement ceremonies held in December. Kirk, of Blacksburg, graduates with a degree in BSED Sport Management. “The Class of 2024 has demonstrated remarkable resilience, dedication, and excellence during their time at the University of Georgia, and we [were] pleased to celebrate them during fall Commencement ceremonies,” said UGA President Jere W. Morehead. “We are confident that these outstanding graduates will continue to inspire, innovate, and lead in their communities and beyond. We look forward to seeing all that they will go on to accomplish as proud alumni of the University of Georgia.” The fall undergraduate Commencement ceremony took place Friday, Dec. 13.
Blacksburg student receives 2024 Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award
BATON ROUGE, La. – Rebecca Martin of Blacksburg was recently awarded a Love of Learning Award worth $1,000 from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Martin is one of 200 recipients to receive the award. Love of Learning Awards are designed to help fund post-baccalaureate professional development for active Phi Kappa Phi members including graduate or professional studies, doctoral dissertations, continuing education, travel related to teaching and research, career development and more. Martin, graduate student at Virginia Tech, will use funds from the award to complete a PhD degree in Macromolecular Science and Engineering pursing research on carbon dioxide sequestration to aid in the reduction of atmospheric carbon dioxide levels contributing to global warming. Martin was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi in 2024 at Virginia Tech. Established in 2007, the Love of Learning Program gives 200 awards annually in support of post-baccalaureate professional development. The selection process for a Love of Learning Award is based on the applicant’s academic achievement, campus and community service, intended use of award funds as it relates to academic and career goals, and a personal statement.
Radford student named to Fall 2024 Dean’s List at Hofstra University
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Abigail Barnes of Radford excelled during the fall 2024 semester at Hofstra, achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall 2024 semester, earning a spot on the Provost’s List at Hofstra University. Barnes’ major is Speech-Lang Hearing Sci. She also earned a spot on the Dean’s List.
