Christiansburg High School has announced the appointment of Sam Inge as its new baseball coach.
Inge has served in various roles in both the baseball and football programs at the school since 2019. He replaces Dale Nelson, who resigned this fall after 10 years.
Under Nelson, the program had won over 130 games in 10 years with several district and regional titles.
Christiansburg is coming off an 8-12 season but shared the River Ridge District title for the two previous years.
Inge applied for the position because of the players in the current program. “We are very fortunate to have great young men in our program, so I wanted the opportunity to continue to coach them and help them accomplish their goals. I am also passionate about teaching the game of baseball and the life lessons that come with it to the next generation,” he said.
Inge was a member of the Rustburg High School baseball team while attending school there.
He hopes to create an environment that is focused on development and being competitive within our district and region.
“Most importantly, I want us to provide young men with the tools necessary to succeed in life after their baseball career is finished,” he concluded.
