Women’s Club president Vicki Tupman presents a donation to Elizabeth Sensabaugh, library Director, and Morgan Esterhuizen, Youth Services Librarian, and Lamplighters, Teresa Harkrader and Barbara Ames, in support of their participation in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

The Women’s Club of Radford recently made a donation to the Radford Public Library Lamplighter’s in support of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Station.

Radford Public Library and the Lamplighters, the non-profit that supports the library, are participating in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Station which encourages reading by mailing free books to children from birth until they start school.

The Women’s Club promotes children’s literacy through Reading is Fundamental, along with book donations to newborns (Babies into Books), the Women’s Resource Center and Head Start. Women’s Club president Vicki Tupman and club member Nancy Kolb recently presented the donation to Elizabeth Sensabaugh, library Director, and Morgan Esterhuizen, Youth Services Librarian, and Lamplighters Teresa Harkrader and Barbara Ames, in support of their participation in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

The “Lamplighters are grateful to fellow literacy organization Woman’s Club of Radford (WCR) for their recent donation to us,” the Lamplighters announced. “WCR is a charitable organization that encourages reading at every stage of childhood. In support of Lamplighters’ efforts to fund Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for Radford via Radford Public Library, WCR generously presented Lamplighter Barbara Ames with a check for Lamplighters and DPIL. Lamplighters is grateful to WCR for their generous donation.”

Radford Public Library can help you register your child or children under five years of age to receive a book in the mail each month at no cost to your family. Lamplighters – Fundraisers for Radford Public Library, in partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, cover the costs associated with the books and the shipping. RPL can help build a library at home of age-appropriate books for early readers. Penguin Random House is the exclusive book publisher for DPIL, and children will love finding a beautiful book in their mailbox each month.
