Douglas Bruce Osborne, 85, of Radford, passed away Sept. 16, 2024, surrounded by family.

“Bruce” was born July 1, 1939 in a town called Drill, Virginia.  He attended and graduated from Honaker High School, attended Bluefield Business College, and later served in the United States Air Force. He then moved to the Radford area and retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. He lived for over 50 years at his home in Radford.  Bruce was very proud of his country and of being a veteran. He was known as someone who could make or build anything. Bruce enjoyed woodworking in his own shop, where he built hundreds of items for people, his specialty being clocks. Lovingly called “Brutch” by his five siblings, he loved his family dearly. Bruce loved the Lord with all his heart, attending church all his life, becoming a deacon, and teaching bible school.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Edna Osborne; sister, Mary Charlotte Rowe; niece, Rebecca Rowe-Alom; nephew, Dr. Michael James Fowler; and sister-in-law, Carol Josephine Osborne.

Douglas is survived by his son, Terry Douglas Osborne and wife, Tina; daughter, Carla Osborne Vaden; grandchildren, Vincent Paul Osborne and fiancée Callie Williams, Michael James Osborne and fiancée Emma Chaffin, Cassandra “Casey” Vaden Stokke and husband Bryan, Thomas Jay “T.J.” Vaden, and Trinity Paige Vaden; siblings, Ronald Mike Osborne, Paul Thomas Osborne and wife Brenda, Roger Wayne Osborne and wife Debbie, Carol Joan Bellamy and husband Gary; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Skyline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for treating Bruce and everyone like family and taking such good care of him for the past few months.

The family will receive friends Monday, Sept. 23,2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, with Pastor Hebron Quesenberry officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Gideons International.
