With changes to the sports marketing program at Virginia Tech, the New River Valley radio group seems to be out as the flagship station for Virginia Tech athletics.
The 105.3 FM station has been the flagship for football and men’s basketball for the past 15 years, but as of this past week, management says they have been told they would not be when the fall hits this year.
Former Hokie signs with Cavs
Virginia Tech’s Hunter Cattoor signed an NBA Summer League deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday, creating an opportunity for him to continue playing professionally.
Cattoor cemented his legacy as one of the Hokie greats by guiding Tech to its first-ever ACC title in 2022, earning ACC Tournament MVP honors following a 31-point outburst in the championship game against Duke.
The Orlando, Fla., native was an elite sharpshooter in his time in Blacksburg, drilling a program-record 332 career threes, which also ranks seventh in ACC history. He averaged a career-best 13.5 points per game in his fifth year in the maroon and orange, eclipsing the 1,500 career point plateau.
Cattoor also played in a program-record 151 career games while knocking down 41.5% from beyond the arc.
The NBA 2K25 Summer League starts July 12.
