BLACKSBURG- Blacksburg Boxing hosted their Summer Health Fair on Saturday, June 8, 2024 to help jumpstart the community into achieving their health and wellness goals by giving them a chance to connect with local organizations and vendors.
The Summer Health Fair at Blacksburg Boxing was free for all who attended and was a way to help the community kickstart their summers in a healthy way. Blacksburg Boxing owner Kevin Bowen and his team provided attendees with a space to connect with local New River Valley health and wellness organizations and vendors.
As people walked through the event, vendors were happy to answer questions and provide health and wellness information. Residents were lining up at tables to take a moment to connect with wellness providers, try some of their free demonstrations and gather information that may help them in their health journeys.
The two levels of Blacksburg Boxing were filled with companies and community members talking and enjoying sandwiches from Jimmy Johns and smoothies from Tropical Smoothie. The Summer Health Fair was a great space to connect with newer vendors like Healing Massage Therapy and community staples like South Main Chiropractic Clinic, who discussed not only spinal work but also orthotics, and OrthoVirginia, who have over 35 locations in the state of Virginia including Blacksburg. Attendees enjoyed trying compression therapy with Renew & Restore Wellness, learning about Alpha-gal syndrome, an allergy triggered by the bite of ticks, with Two Alpha Gals, sampling lavender products from Baby Bear Farm and so much more.
Blacksburg Boxing has served its community since 2015, made it through the pandemic and is the only boxing specific gym in Blacksburg. Blacksburg Boxing is a family operated gym that offers open-gym hours and classes for all ages. The Summer Health Fair was a first for Blacksburg Boxing.
