The Blacksburg High School baseball team fell in the state quarterfinals earlier this year, and its coach Dave Dunstan has been named the co-coach of the year in Region 4D.
The team finished 19-4 overall including a 10-2 region mark after winning this year’s regional title.
Three Bruins were named to the first team announced after voting on Monday afternoon. Catcher Major Marshall led the way with first baseman Brice Abbott and outfielder Reese Taylor.
Second team honors were given to third baseman Avan Morris and second baseman Sam Szefc.
Four Blacksburg softball players were also named the Region 3D teams. Catcher Katey Mathena and first baseman Lindsay Polan were first teamers, while Pitcher Lorelei Spradlin and third baseman Molly Lyon were second teamers.
Five Bruins were named to the region’s girls’ soccer all star team. They included first teamers: Erin Bishop, Kailyn Brawley and goalie Paige Miller. Second teamers were Kailan Malabad and Charlotte Ellis.
On the boys’ side of the field, Blacksburg had three first teamers. Sean DeLorenzo led the way with teammates, Craig Huxtable and Addison Bass.
Charles Lattimer was the lone second teamer, while Tommy Monaghan and Simon Pratt were named to the honorable mention list.
