Please join the Animal Care and Adoption Center (ACAC) this Saturday, May 18, noon to 3 p.m., for a Purricane Prep Party.
Purricane season – also known as kitten season – is right around the corner in Montgomery County. In order to prepare for the flood of tiny felines, the ACAC is taking action and asking the community to help.
On Saturday, May 18, stop by the prep party to participate in the festivities, including a visit from The National Weather Service in Blacksburg. Please bring supplies to help care for the kittens that typically arrive at the Center during purricane season.
Needed supplies include:
Health and nutrition needs: Kitten formula (kitten milk replacer) powder; Purina Kitten Chow (yellow bag); “pate” style wet adult or kitten food (Friskies or any brand); double-sided food bowls; small stainless-steel food bowls; treats; kitten nursing bottles and replacement nipples; Miracle Nipples (mini and original); food scales (digital kitchen scale, weight in grams and ounces); digital thermometers; heating pads (three-settings heating pad without auto shut-off, e.g. Sunbeam light blue)
Litter items: Non-clumping clay litter; “Yesterday’s News” (or any brand) paper litter; litter scoops
Comfort items: “Snuggle Kitty or Puppy” stuffed toy with heartbeat; fleece blankets; small cat beds; toys; piper cleaners
Grooming products: Toothbrushes (inexpensive) used for grooming; flea combs
Cleaning products: Bleach; liquid laundry soap; Dawn “Ultra” dish soap (blue)
