The Forest Service plans to conduct a prescribed burn of a 341-acre area of Tract Mountain located near the Town of Pulaski on Wednesday, Mar. 13, 2024, if weather conditions are appropriate.
The burn will be completed in one day; however, residents and forest visitors may see and smell smoke from this prescribed burn for a few days. Smoke may be visible to area residents. According to the Forest Service the “burn will help reduce hazardous fuels and restore wildlife habitat to improve overall forest health by creating a mosaic of different aged trees and shrubs.”
For more information on the prescribed burn program, please contact the Eastern Divide Ranger District at 540-552-4641, visit www.fs.usda.gov/gwj, or follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
