CHRISTIANSBURG – The Montgomery Museum of Art & History has been awarded a $10,000 ArtStars Award from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation.

The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation named five nonprofit arts organizations across the Commonwealth as 2024 Dominion Energy ArtStars for inspiring people of all ages in creative endeavors. The organizations, each with an annual operating budget under $1 million, represent five regions across Virginia. Each received a $10,000 grant to support its winning arts or cultural education programs.

“We are honored to represent Southwest Virginia and accept this gift from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, which supports our mission to promote the arts within the region while offering creative and impactful art exhibits and programs to the community,” said Casey Jenkins, the Executive Director of the museum.

“These organizations have found opportunities where the arts can make a meaningful difference in young people’s development and in the overall quality of life in their communities,” said Hunter A. Applewhite, president of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. “Relying largely on donations and volunteers, they make Virginia a better place to live for us all.”

The grant award, which celebrates the museum’s endeavors to combine arts and education in the community, will be used to highlight how the Montgomery Museum is expanding the definition of the arts through cultural programming to include performing arts, literary arts, culinary arts, and much more.

“We are very grateful to Dominion Energy and their support of our vital work in the community,” said Jenkins. “This funding will have a direct, local impact on Montgomery County and the New River Valley and enable the museum to be a positive agent of change through our cultural programming.”
