Dialogue on Race Winter Summit, Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Christiansburg Middle School attended by more than 200 community members to combat racism in the New River Valley.

“Taking Stock and Moving On” summit set for Jan. 27

On Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, the Montgomery County Dialogue on Race, sponsored by the Community Group, will convene its eleventh annual winter summit.

This public event will be held at Christiansburg Middle School, 1205 Buffalo Dr., Christiansburg, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign-in begins at 8 a.m. with the Coffee with Cops feature beginning at 9 a.m. Light lunch will be served at noon, complements of The Community Group of Montgomery County and the New Mountain Climbers Giving Circle.

The mission of the Dialogue on Race is to create a forum that examines racial issues articulated by the African American community in Montgomery County, and then develops and implements solutions. To address these issues the Dialogue on Race project is organized into five issue groups—Education, Law Enforcement, Employment/Income Gap, Jim Crow/White Privilege, and Limited Presence. At this event we will take a brief look at the status of our ongoing work and discuss next steps.
