New River Community College’s engineering design technology associate degree program is now enrolling students for the fall 2023 semester. The program is designed to prepare graduates for full-time employment as qualified engineering design technicians and computer-aided design (CAD) technicians to work with engineers, as well as industries and businesses.
Graduates of the program will be capable of complex reverse engineering techniques, advanced parametric solid modeling, additive manufacturing 3D printing, producing engineering design drawings, and advanced conceptual 3D modeling.
Approximately two-thirds of the program includes courses in engineering design technology, reverse engineering, and additive manufacturing (3D printing) with the remaining courses in related areas, general education, and electives. Instruction includes both theoretical concepts and practical applications with a focus on “real world” project completion that is needed for future success.
Graduates of the program are prepared for careers as engineering design technicians, engineer design specialists, additive manufacturing/3D printing technicians, CAD technicians, and more.
Engineering design technology is one of NRCC’s many G3-eligible programs. G3 is a tuition assistance program for any Virginia resident who qualifies for in-state tuition and whose family income falls below an identified threshold. For more information about G3 tuition assistance, visit www.nr.edu/g3.
Classes begin August 23. For more information, visit www.nr.edu/edt or email Jeff Levy, instructor of drafting, at jlevy@nr.edu.
