Wharton Letter Tuesdays has a new look. Join Glencoe Mansion, Museum and Gallery each Tuesday on its social media pages as it continues to highlight the Wharton letters, but instead learn what Gabe and Nannie were doing and thinking on this day in the 1860s. “On this day in 1864, Gen. Wharton wrote to Nannie from “11 miles East of Winchester.” They were pursuing fleeing Union troops towards the Potomac,” Glencoe posted July 25. “According to Gabe, “It was Crooks force, we whipped him well.” This refers to Gen. George R. Crook, who is pictured here. To learn more about Gen. Wharton’s military campaigns, visit the Glencoe Gift Shop to get a copy of “The Whartons’ War.” Glencoe is open Wednesday to Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday 1- 4 p.m.
