The ACC Network team within Virginia Tech Athletics earned a pair of Capital Emmy Awards as announced by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter recently at the 64th Annual Awards ceremony.
“This is a tremendous achievement for our team,” Assistant Athletics Director of ACC Network, Eric Frey acknowledged. “We all work really well together, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the efforts of our staff, students, freelancers and most importantly, our engineers. We love what we do and we hope that shows in the coverage we provide Virginia Tech and ESPN.”
Coverage of Tech’s 2022 baseball and softball seasons won Capital Emmy for Sports – Live Sporting Event Season.
“It is an absolute honor to win these awards,” Daniel Gibbons, Director of ACC Network, said. “We couldn’t have done it without the tireless work of every freelancer, student, staff member and especially our engineers putting in countless hours of work over the past few years. These awards are due to the dedication of our staff and Eric Frey for leading our team to get better each and every year to be able to achieve this.”
Initially launched in 2019, Tech’s ACC Network team has quickly ascended as one of the premier production units in the country. In addition to its full-time staff, the ACC Network team takes great pride in student development, annually producing multiple student-run broadcasts.
