Radford Women’s Basketball Head Coach Mike McGuire has announced an exciting addition of young talent in four freshmen to the roster for the 2023-24 season.
Adelyn Traylor-Walker, a 5’7 guard coming from Bella Vista Preparatory School and Terissa Lavoile-Brice, a 6’0 forward from Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada join the team as incoming freshmen. Joi Williams, a 5’8 guard from Ashburn, Va. and Arshae Jackson, a 5-10 guard coming from James River High School round out the quartet of new Highlanders who will be making their collegiate debuts next season.
Adelyn Traylor-Walker
Guard | 5-7 | Franklin, Ind. | Bella Vista Preparatory School
During her senior season at Bella Vista Prep, Adelyn averaged 14.2 ppg, 5.4 spg, 5.8 apg and 10.1 rpg
Was a varsity letter all four years
Voted MidState all-conference twice and Defensive Player of the Year once
Scored 1,287 career points
Indiana State championship runner-up her junior season and a world champion at Grind Session her senior year
Was named MVP at the 2021 Memorial Weekend Tournament in Ohio
Played for the AAU Team Blaze coached by Derrick Cross and Ron McClennon
Adelyn on why she chose Radford: “I chose Radford as I felt like it was the place to be. I like the small atmosphere the campus has. The coaching staff is top notch. Lastly, I am absolutely excited to be able to reunite out on the court with my sisters Pa’Shence and Ashlyn again.”
McGuire on Adelyn: “What drew me to Addey was her unselfish mindset and her competitive drive to win games. Addey has experienced great success on the court and her willingness to take on various roles for her team has been a huge reason why her teams win games. Addey will bring immediate punch to our team by being a strong two-way player. She values playing on both ends of the floor. As a guard, she can play multiple positions and has a huge upside. We are looking forward to watching Addey reach new levels in a Radford uniform.”
Terissa Lavoile-Brice
Forward | 6-0 | Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada | Winston-Salem Christian School
Most recently played at Winston-Salem Christian School but also played at Ecole Secondaire Saint-Laurent in her high school career
Averaged six points, eight rebounds and three assists
In 2018 she helped her team towards a Provincial Championship and placing third-place in the Canada Games
In 2019 she helped lead the team towards another Provincial Championship and a first-place finish in the Canada Games
Named first team all-star in 2019
Earned academic merits for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons
Played AAU with the Phoenix Elite and Bluehounds coached by Delaney Rudd and Trevor Williams
Terissa on why she chose Radford: “The basketball team was the major factor for me. I know I can have a powerful impact academically, athletically and be a great addition to this university. I had coaches in the past that had the same coaching style as Radford’s coaching staff, a style that led me to many great things in life. I want to train with them and win some amazing competitions while wearing the red and white. However, because an athlete’s career is brief and injuries could derail you, I also want to have the safety net a degree gives you in life. It feels like a dream come true to me to be pursuing a degree in sports psychology and management while attempting to compete at the top level. At Radford, I can fulfill my dream.”
McGuire on Terissa: “Terissa is coming to us from Canada and has been at Winston-Salem Christian for the past two years. Terissa does all of the little things that helps a team win. She values the role of being a glue player while having big time upside as an overall player. She is the type of player that will make the extra pass, win the 50/50 rebound, set a hard screen, and defend an opponent’s best player. Terissa is somewhat of a silent assassin – she quietly executes her role well. She comes highly recommended to us from Delaney Rudd, her high school and travel coach. We think she is a great fit and we look forward to her impact.”
Joi Williams

While at Virginia Academy, Williams averaged 23 ppg, 5.2 rpg and 3.1 apg
Finished with 1,903 points in her high school career
Was a three-time state champion for the season 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23
Named the Virginia State Player of the Year three times for the 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons
Named an All-MET Selection by the Washington Post
Was a member of the AAU Fairfax Stars EYBL in 2021 and 2022 coached by Aggie McCormick
Joi on why she chose Radford: “I chose Radford because it feels like a family. From my visit I felt at home. The campus is beautiful and the people really care about you and your future.”
McGuire on Joi: “Joi is a dynamic scoring point guard. Joi has consistently proven throughout her high school career that she can score the ball in various ways and will lead her team to championships. She has been a three-time independent school state player of the year and is a three-time state champion as well. Joi will bring immediate play making and shooting to our point guard position. Most importantly, she is a winner and we expect her to bring that attitude and work ethic from day one.”
Arshae Jackson
Guard | 5-10 | Church Hill, Va. | James River High School
Averaged 7.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 4.9 field goals and 11.9 points per game at James River High School
Was a 1,000-point career scorer
Team captain for three years with her high school team
Named to the all-metro and all-state teams all four seasons played
Made the senior all-star game
Finished her high school career as the second highest all-time scorer at James River
Played AAU on the team FBC Havoc coached by Jackie Edmonds
Arshae on why she chose Radford: “I chose Radford because when I was presented with this opportunity I had no second guesses, it felt like the right decision. I’ve been given the chance to continue playing basketball, study the exact major I want, grow and meet new people.”
McGuire on Arshae: “Arshae is a young lady that I have had my eyes on for years. Arshae has flown under the radar and we think we have landed one of the best hidden gems in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Arshae is a smart, skilled, and versatile basketball player. She plays within herself and plays to her strengths. She will make fundamental plays that lead to winning games. Arshae has a bright future and we are ready to get to work with her.”
