RADFORD – The Radford Photo Club will offer programs on street photography at the Jan. 19, Feb. 15, and March 16 meetings, to include a presentation, a conversation, an assignment, a contest, and a critique.
“The series will be interactive, not technical,” said Professional Photographer Adi Ben Senior, who will lead the program.
The programs will be at 6 p.m. at the Radford Public Library.
In January, Ben Senior will talk about what street photography is, the techniques and approach. At the February meeting, a review of equipment will be held: what to bring, wear, and do, and what not to bring, wear, and do. Conversation and an assignment will be included. In March, those who completed the assignment will each share three of their photos on the projector and talk about the experience.
“In January we will look at some of the earliest street photography photos,” Ben Senior said. “In February, we will look at newer photos. You will see that people notice, and sometimes they yell. It’s not a studio.”
“The rules are simple: ‘be ready’ and ‘get close’,” Ben Senior said.
From Christiansburg, Ben Senior has been photographing since 1987. He studied photography in the Tel-Aviv Arts Museum on a full scholarship, graduated the ISR Navy as a type II international naval photographer specialist, worked for nature journals, and traveled from Lapland to Patagonia, from Congo to California. He has been awarded multiple intentional prizes over the years and had multiple publications and exhibitions in museums, International Art Centers, and private galleries.
