Intent on helping holiday shoppers get the best value for their dollars, the personal finance website WalletHub conducted a series of surveys in time for Christmas.
The website then compiled the highlights of each report:
The best credit cards for holiday shopping this season, chosen from more than 1,500 offers are Wells Fargo Active Cash (which offers the best flat-rate cash rewards) and Chase Freedom Unlimited (which offers the best everyday shopping rewards).
According to WalletHub, the best gift cards of 2022 belong to Amazon, Walmart, Target, Starbucks, and Chick-fil-A.
The website also conducted a debt study and determined that credit card debt rose by $86 billion in 2021. WalletHub further projects an increase in consumer debt of $110 billion in 2022.
The website determined that Utah, Maryland, and Minnesota are the most charitable states for 2023 and that the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, the Equal Justice initiative, and the World Central Kitchen are the best charities to donate to in 2023.
According to WalletHub, Seattle($2,112), San Francisco ($2,093), and San Jose ($1,765) are the large cities with the biggest holiday budgets. The website further concluded from its survey that New York, Orlando, and Las Vega are the best cities for New Year’s.
