RICHMOND – Radford’s and James River’s boys basketball teams have their second date of the season Saturday at 5 p.m. in Richmond.
The Region C, Division 2 rivals advanced to the state championship game Thursday night—but in different fashions.

Radford needed overtime to take out Lancaster 67-61 while James River breezed past George Mason 65-31 at VCU’s Siegel Center.
The two teams hold title to the past two Division 2 state championships. The Bobcats won it in 2009 and the Knights are the defending champs.
River also is the Region C champion after beating Radford 56-52 on the Knights’ home floor two weeks ago.
Radford’s girls were on track to make the finals, too. They led George Mason 32-16 in the second quarter of that semi-final game Friday afternoon.

If the Lady Bobcats’ lead holds up, they’ll play at 3 p.m. Saturday for the state championship.
