RADFORD – The Radford Public Library has launched a Radford Reads Reading Challenge for 2021, encouraging people to expand their horizons and read more.
The library recently asked for submissions from patrons for what types of reading challenges should make the list.
“You all had so many great ideas for reading challenges,” reads the library’s most recent electronic newsletter. “It was hard to pick, but we narrowed it down. We challenge you to read at least 12 books this year, and to broaden your horizons by reading books that meet these criteria [see accompanying graphic to today’s story]. You can read them in whatever order you like, but we’ll have recommendations each month to keep you full of ideas.”
You may have noticed a distinct theme to our recent posts, “New Year, New Genre”, and that’s the first challenge on our list – Read a book outside of your usual genre.”
Other challenges include reading a book by a local author, one that is recommended by a librarian and “a book you were supposed to read in school, but didn’t.”
