Dispelling rumors about the possible permanent closing of the Christiansburg Waffle House at 90 Oak Tree Blvd., Area People Director Joann Seymour, pictured above as she dropped by the local store Wednesday, confirmed that the restaurant is closed only temporarily and will reopen soon. The date depends upon what the governor decides. In fact, Seymour said, none of the chain’s roughly 2,000 restaurants will close permanently. As of Wednesday morning, Seymour said, 1,209 Waffle House restaurants across the country remain open. The others are closed, but only temporarily, Seymour said. She cited the company’s solid financial position as the reason why it has been able to weather the storm of the closings forced by the lockdowns in various states.
