Radford University head women’s golf coach Jeff Beeler announced last week the addition of Jimenna Ramirez to the program for the 2020-21 season.
Ramirez has signed her national letter of intent and will be a freshman with four years of eligibility beginning in the fall.
"We’re very excited to have Jimenna join us this fall," said Beeler. "She’s competed at a very high level around the world and should be a tremendous asset to our program for years to come."
A native of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, Ramirez has represented her country at multiple international tournaments and twice qualified for the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship. She has competed in multiple prestigious junior events throughout her career, including the Golf Digest Japan Junior Cup and the Belgian International Golf Championship. Her highlights include winning a national tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, and finishing first in the Sombrero Open Championship.
Ramirez attended Vincent Memorial Catholic High School in Colexico, Calif., where she thrived as a member of the women’s golf team and became one of the top golfers in the Imperial Valley League. Ramirez earned first–team all-conference honors twice in the league and earned a top-15 finish at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) San Diego Sectional Championship.
She joins a Highlander program that returns four of its five starters from the 2019-20 season and was in the midst of one of its best seasons in program history. Radford broke its school record for 54-hole score (904) and had two top-three finishes and four top-five finishes.
