RADFORD – The Radford Chamber of Commerce and the Festival of Lights Committee are currently looking for businesses and community members to help make the City of Radford festive for the holiday season.

“We are fund–raising for the Christmas season “Festival of Lights,” reads a letter to the Radford community from the two organizations. “Many of the wreaths we use on the light poles are very old, deteriorating, and will need to be replaced.”

The Festival of Lights Committee has been in effect for more than a decade.

Marceline Hunter has been chairing this committee since the committee began. Many of the wreaths were older at that time, so the city’s electric department re–wired them with 100–foot lights and committee members added new bows to each wreath.

“We would like to thank The Electrical Department for all their hard work to keep our City beautiful with these decorations each year,” said Hunter.

“We would appreciate your donation to this committee in order for us to purchase some new decorations,” the letter states. “The Radford Chamber of Commerce has been working with us for this length of time and we are requesting for you to make a donation payable to the Radford Chamber. Please include in the memo line, “Christmas Lights”. This will ensure that your donation will go towards the purchase of the new much needed decorations. We need to have your donations to purchase the decorations and give the Electrical Department enough time to schedule installation for the holiday season.”
