BLACKSBURG – The Hahn Horticulture Garden is celebrating its 35th anniversary, and holding its annual garden gala.

The Hahn garden encompasses nearly six acres of teaching and display gardens on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Established in 1984 by horticulture faculty, the garden serves undergraduate students and the local community as a learning resource for plant material, landscaping concepts, and environmental awareness.

“Although the Garden is located on the Virginia Tech campus, we do not receive any funding from the university for our day-to-day operations,” state Gala organizers. “Therefore, we are dependent on fund raising activities and the Garden Gala is our largest single fundraiser each year.”

This year’s Gala is set for Saturday, June 8 from 5:30 – 9 p.m. Tickets are now on sale and can found at https://www.hort.vt.edu/hhg/documents/2019GalaTicketForm.pdf.

The Gala is an evening for friends and fellow garden enthusiasts to gather in support of Garden improvements and on-going maintenance. This year’s Gala will feature food and drink by Blue Ridge Catering, live music by Salt Pond, and a live and silent auction which will feature unique plants, original artwork by local artists, and garden furniture. They also will be honoring the many student interns who have worked at the Garden over the past 35 years and looking towards the future of the Garden.
