The Radford University recently competed nationally, with two team members coming in top three in the country.


The team’s performed at the 2019 ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships, held in San Antonio, Texas. They competed in six clay shooting events: International Skeet, International Trap, American Skeet, American Trap, Sporting Clays, and Super Sporting Clays.

“As a team, we shot in Division III, taking twelfth out of 27 teams,” said team vice president Thomas Armel. “This is our team’s third year competing at the national tournament at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio and this year there were over 1000 registered college students shooting in the competition.”

Individual standouts for Radford University include:

Thomas Armel:

Took third in the nation, A Class Skeet following a five-way shootout with a score of 99/100

Placed top 10 in A Class Super Sporting Clays with a score of 91/100

Second Highest Shooter at Radford with a score of 505/100

Jake Chalkley:

Took third in the nation, B Class International Skeet following a two-way shootout with a score of 79/100

Took fourth in the nation, B Class Super Sporting Clays with a score of 88/100

Chris Dunn:

Took fourth in the nation, B Class International Skeet with a score of 78/100

Will Rapadas:

Highest overall shooter at Radford University with a score of 506/600
