Children’s Trust plants its annual Pinwheel Garden

March 26, 2019 – Children’s Trust will kick-off National Child Abuse Prevention Month on Thursday, March 28, 9:00 a.m. at Virginia Western Community College Arboretum, 3094 Colonial Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24015.

Children’s Trust volunteers and staff will plant its annual garden of 5000 pinwheels.
Pinwheels are the national symbol for child abuse prevention. By its very nature, the pinwheel connotes whimsy
and childlike notions. In essence, it has come to serve as the physical embodiment, or reminder, of the great
childhoods we want for all children.
Stand Together Against Child Abuse by adding a small Pinwheel Garden to your place of business. Twenty-four
Pinwheels and a yard sign can be obtained at Children’s Trust free of charge. Hours: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Mondays
through Fridays. There are a limited number of Pinwheel Gardens available. Please ick your up at the Children’s Trust
offices, located in the Jefferson Center, 541 Luck Ave., Suite 308.
Children’s Trust consists of five programs: CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Children’s Advocacy Center,
Community Mediation, Children First Child Abuse Prevention, and Healthy Families. These programs combine to
provide public education outreach, effective advocacy, and a strong network of support for children and families
and is dedicated to coordinating services that will improve the community by promoting awareness about child
abuse, providing family support through education, providing a child-friendly environment for the investigation of
abuse, and advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children.
