Lee Roy Barnett, 82, of Price’s Fork, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at his home. He was born in Merrimac, VA on Aug. 16, 1936 to the late John Henry & Mattie Barnett.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Harrison & twin brother Robert. He was a veteran of the Navy. Lee Roy managed the Virginia Tech Turkey Farm for 40 years. Lee Roy was a coach to many and a father to several as well. The Price’s Fork Community always counted on Lee Roy to help in several ways and you always saw him helping anyone.
Lee Roy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Edith Barnett; sons & daughters-in-law, Richard and Teresa Barnett, Jason and Jennifer Barnett, and Henry and Brandi Barnett; grandchildren he dearly loved Wyatt, Lilly, Zoey, and soon to be Baby Barnett; sister, Stella Quesenberry; sister-in-law, Barbara Yopp; as well as several nieces and nephews. Many special friends as well.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Hill officiating. Burial followed in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Price’s Fork United Methodist Church or to the Coal Miners Association of Montgomery County. The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW Blacksburg.
