Abby Barnes placed sixth at this weekend’s Randy Smith Cross Country in Bristol to lead the Radford High School girls team to an overall win over Virginia High School. Radford tallied 47 points to Virginia High’s 69. Union was third with 71 points.
Radford’s Anneliese Stewart finished ninth, and Alice Lin and Ellie Buskill were 11 and 12 on the three-mile course at Sugar Hollow Park.
On the boys’ side of the course, RHS finished second behind Union. Tennessee High School was third and Elizabethton fourth.
Radford’s William Harris took second with a time of 17:14 with Auburn’s Peyton in third. Radford’s Ben Ramsey and Nick Rooney were seventh and 13th. Landon Roop was 20th.
Christiansburg took the boys race at the Alleghany Invitational in Covington ahead of Cave Spring and Hidden Valley. Christiansburg tallied 39 points as Ethan Mills and Cooper Neeble finished third and fourth. Ethan Wilson finished eighth for the Blue Demons.
Cave Spring had 57 points, and Hidden valley 115.
In the girls’ race, Christiansburg finished eighth in the team competition. Hidden Valley won the meet with 32 points with Lord Botetourt second and Salem third.
