Virginia Tech Executive Associate Athletic Director & CFO, Omar Banks, announced the hiring of Patricia Moran to the department as Associate Athletic Director for Business & Finance.
“We are very excited to have Patricia join our team here at Virginia Tech,” said Banks. “I’ve been fortunate enough to meet and form relationships with several business managers in college athletics, and my colleagues and I agree that she is a rising star in our industry. She has the financial and administrative experience as well as the collaborative and interpersonal skills to continue our forward trajectory.”
Moran comes to Blacksburg after serving in a similar role as an Assistant AD at Boise State for the past three years. While with the Broncos, Moran oversaw all business affairs and financial operations for the department. She developed, implemented and monitored all of the department’s budget while also analyzing reports to determine policies and procedures. Moran also served in a supervisory role, overseeing the business office employees.
“I am honored and excited to be joining the Virginia Tech family,” said Moran. “I would like to thank Omar and Whit [Babcock] for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to working alongside a dedicated group of coaches and staff in service of our student-athletes. Go Hokies!”
Prior to her time at Boise, Moran was an Assistant Director for Athletics Business Operations at William & Mary, where she directed and managed the business and financial operations, ensuring efficient planning, allocation and accounting of funds and resources. She also worked in ticket operations for the Tribe and oversaw student employment.
Moran got her start in college athletics business at Georgetown University, serving as a business administrator for three years. Prior to Georgetown, she also spent time working with NBC Universal Sports on events such as Wimbledon and the French Open.
Moran, who currently serves as 3rd Vice President for the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA), graduated from Ave Maria University with a B.A. in Biology in 2009. She received an M.A. in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown in 2010 and is on-track to earn her Ed.D. in Educational Policy, Planning and Leadership from William & Mary in 2019.
