With school restarting this month for children ages five to 18, families will be seeking a balance of academics and extracurricular activities.
Parents may be interested in organizations that develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership and citizenship skills that will influence student success well into adult lives.
Sports build teamwork, commitment to common goals and problem-solving skills and bolster physical fitness. From the variety of sports available, students can achieve a positive attitude and healthy manner that builds self-confidence.
Scouting has a value to students whether they participate in or have no interest in sports. Scouting offers a balance of life enriching activities.
All Girl Scout, Cub Scout and Boy Scout units offer flexible scheduling options for families of girls and boys.
