Mary Allene McGuire, 99, of Radford, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Born on July 20, 1918, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson J. McGuire; parents, Milton H. and Della Mae Stanley; 6 siblings; and 1 grandchild.
Survivors include her 5 loving children, Linda M. Asbury (Hugh), Allene N. Lott (David), John W. McGuire (Connie), Robert H. McGuire (Ellen), and Carolyn S. Sutphin (Gary); 8 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was loved for her giving and sweet nature by all who knew her. Her love for her Savior and readiness to meet Him was an inspiration to everyone around her. She was an active member of the Radford Wesleyan Church and the Pilgrim Holiness Church for most of her life. She retired in 1983 from Radford Public Schools where she worked in the cafeterias and was loved by the staff and children.
Everyone at Belle Heth Elementary School called her the “roll lady”, because she made them delicious, fresh rolls every morning. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who have been blessed to have had her in their lives.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to her special caregivers for their loving care over the years.
The family received friends on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services were held with Pastor “J” Janofski officiating. Interment followed in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, where she was buried beside her husband.
The McGuire family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford, Virginia.
