Christiansburg girls win Radford All-American Relays

Christiansburg High School edged out PH-Glade Spring Friday to claim the girls title at the All-American Relays in Radford. The Lady Demons tallied 62 points to PH’s 57. Host-Radford was third with 52 points. Auburn finished tied for ninth. Eastern Montgomery was 23rd.


Radford’s Dillon Whitt placed fifth in the shot put (46-05.50).
Radford’s Kamaree Tanner placed 18th in the long jump (18-07.50).
Radford’s Alex Roberts placed sixth with a height of 5-08 at the Radford All-American Relays on Friday.
Radford’s Caroline Bryant races in the 3200 m relay on her home track on Friday evening. The Bobcats placed fifth with a time of 11:34.90.

On the boys side of the track, Liberty Christian beat Cave Spring 81-50, while Floyd was third. PH-Glade Spring was third. Christiansburg finished tied for sixth in the boy’s division with Host-Radford eighth.

Taleigha Miles things started with a third place finish in the girls’ 100 meters with a time of 13.51. Julia Moschella then would claim the 400-meter event for the Blue Demons with teammate Makenna Horne in third.

Radford’s Miranda McGrady then joined the party with a second place in the girls 800 meters. Auburn’s Jessica Musselman was sixth, and her teammate Caitlin Dominy then won the 1600 with Christiansburg’s Maddie Yancey sixth, Auburn’s Grace Hall seventh and Christiansburg’s Caitlin Slusher eighth.

Auburn’s Anna Kuchan would finish fifth in the 3,200.

Radford’s Tyashia Gellner led the 100-meter hurdle field to the line with Christiansburg’s Zoiee Kimbrough in fourth. Geller would finish third in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Christiansburg 4X100 meter relay team then brought home the 2018 All-American crown.

Auburn’s 4X800 meter relay group would finish second to Hidden Valley with host-Radford fifth. Christiansburg would also claim the 1600 Spring Medley event.

Kendal Lewis would give Christiansburg a fifth place finish in the high jump and a fifth in the long jump. Her teammate, Kaylyn Cromer, would take sixth place and Moschella ninth.

Cromer would then turn around and win the girls’ triple ump with a leap of 34-09 in the finals after qualifying with a 36 ft. mark.

Radford’s girls would pick up points in the shot put with Tehya Friend n third and Mary Brown in fourth. Brown would also finish second in the discus with Auburn’s Madelyn ale in fifth.

On the boys side of the track, Harrison Bush would pick up a third place for Radford in the 200 meter dash with Auburn’s Brandon Justice in sixth. Justice would then turn around and take second in the 400 meters. Abdul Delaney was sixth in the 400 for Christiansburg.

Auburn’s Tyler Wilson would lead the boys to the 800-meter tape with a time of 1:57.79. His teammate, Nolan Harris, would win the 1,600 with Christiansburg’s Nathan Morton in seventh.

Christiansburg’s Cooper Neeble and Ethan Wilson were third and sixth respectively in the 3,200 meters with Radford’s Ben Ramsey in seventh.

The Radford 4X100 relay team placed third and Christiansburg eighth. The Blue Demon 4X800 relay team ran away with a first place with a scorching 8:20.98 in qualifying and 8:22.64 in the finals. Radford finished third. Christiansburg’s 1600 Spring Medley team then ran away from the competition with a 25 second win over second place Patrick County. Radford was fifth.

Radford’s Alex Robert was sixth in the high jump, and his teammate Dillion Whitt was fifth in the shot put. Christiansburg’s Xavier Wright was sixth. Whitt would also finish fourth in the discus.
