The pets-of-the-week are from the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center. Each Saturday the News Messenger features a dog and cat from the facility available for adoption. Those interested in adopting a pet, or helping the facility, can call 382-5795 or visit www.montgomerycountyva.gov/acac.
Rocky, 10, is a very sweet Lab mix who was brought to the Animal Care and Adoption Center in July. He is a senior with special needs. Rocky is blind and needs a rescue or home that has experience with blind dogs. He is a big, lovable teddy bear of a dog, weighing in at 100 lbs. He is very well behaved and enjoys curling up on a lap or maybe a comfy couch.Chester very well may have been a dog in a previous life. He will greet you at the door, follow you around, and attempt to steal food off your plate when you’re not looking! He communicates with humans with head “boops” when he needs attention and affection or hasn’t received a treat. Overall, he has a very good temperament and tolerates most anything. He is fine with children but isn’t a fan of other cats or dogs. Chester is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and litter box trained.
