While funds last, VCCS’s Career Switcher Alternative Route to Licensure Program, EducateVA, valued at $3,900, will cost $1,300.
The Virginia Community College System invites people who have a four-year degree and a minimum of five years of work experience to “bring your passion to the future” and become a licensed Virginia Public School teacher by enrolling in its 18-week “Career Switcher Program”.
The VCCS’s Career Switcher Alternative Route to Licensure Program is designed to train participants to teach in critical shortage areas such as mathematics, English, foreign languages, and sciences.
EducateVA consists of six Saturday sessions, a mandatory 40-hour field placement, and six online courses resulting in a one-year, provisional teaching license that will be converted to a full five-year, renewable license after one year of successful teaching.
