Virginia State Police and Virginia Tech Police remain on the scene of an officer-involved shooting on the Virginia Tech campus. The campus lockdown was lifted at approximately 4:30pm this afternoon and normal activities resumed. Virginia Tech police requested that the Virginia State Police assume primary responsibility for the investigation of the incident. At a press conference held this afternoon, Virginia State Police Sgt. Robert Carpentieri said the campus was safe but declined to confirm that the second body was that of the shooter. He did say that a weapon was found, that investigators were “confident” that the threat was over, and that people can “read between the lines.”
