Joy Powers, candidate for Congress in Virginia’s Ninth District, has earned the endorsement of National Security Leaders for America (NSL4A), “a nonpartisan network of more than 1,600 senior national security professionals from across the political spectrum” according to her campaign.
According to the organization’s website, NSL4A members include retired admirals, generals, ambassadors, diplomats and civilian service officials from across the political spectrum, including Republicans, Independents and Democrats.
“Joy Powers has demonstrated the judgment, integrity, and commitment to constitutional norms and public service that voters in Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District deserve,” said retired Ambassador Kenneth Yalowitz of Blacksburg. “Her first responsibility in Congress will be to the Constitution, not to a president, political party or individual.”
“She understands that decisions to launch wars without Congressional approval have consequences for places like Southwest Virginia, driving up fertilizer and gas costs that farmers feel immediately,” he added. “High tariffs and trade wars threaten overseas markets for farmers and create more uncertainty.”
“I’m honored to earn the trust of leaders who have dedicated their lives to protecting our country,” said Powers. “Their support shows that defending the Constitution and serving our communities can bring people together across party lines. After 16 years of Morgan Griffith, Southwest Virginia deserves a representative who will put our people ahead of party loyalty. That’s the commitment I will bring to Congress.”
