Linda Laverne Simpkins, 73, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born Dec. 28, 1952, she was a Certified Nursing Assistant who retired from Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, George Lee and Eva Laverne Stoots Taylor.
Survivors include her son, Kris Roop; daughter, Shannon Lytton (Tommy); grandchildren, Emily Neece (Travis), Corey Roop (Amri), Aaron Lytton (Danielle), Kelsey Bailey (Peyton), and Crislynne Lytton (D.J.); 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Pamela Sanford (Joe); special grand dogs, Bailey and Ellie, and many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House.
Services will be private.
The Simpkins family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
