Radford University’s women’s basketball and Head Coach Mike McGuire have announced the non-conference portion of the 2026-27 schedule.
The 14-game slate features five home games at the Dedmon Center, three battles against power conference opponents and eight contests against fellow mid-majors. After a tune-up exhibition contest that’ll whet the appetite of Highlander faithful on Wednesday, Oct. 28 vs. Southern Virginia on the home hardwood, Radford will travel to Clemson to take on the Tigers on Monday, Nov. 2. It’s the third-straight season the Highlanders will open the regular season against an ACC opponent.
The Highlanders’ first home contest welcomes Bluefield University to the New River Valley on Wednesday, Nov. 4. That’ll be the first of three contests against non-Division I opponents, as Ferrum (Monday, Nov. 16) and Concord (Saturday, Dec. 19) are also on the docket.For the first time since the 2023-24 season, Radford will play an SEC opponent. The Highlanders face off against the Lady Vols of Tennessee on Thursday, Nov. 19 in Knoxville. The final regularly scheduled game against a power conference foe comes in the traditional New River Valley battle at Virginia Tech on Monday, Dec. 21. The non-conference schedule features a plethora of intriguing matchups. The Highlanders take on the reigning ASUN regular season champs, Eastern Kentucky, in the Bluegrass State on Saturday, Nov. 7. Other matchups against non-power opponents include games at Campbell (Wednesday, Nov. 11), at Furman (Monday, Nov. 23), vs. Norfolk State (Sunday, Nov. 29), vs. ETSU (Wednesday, Dec. 2), at Ohio (Saturday, Dec. 5), at Davidson (Sunday, Dec. 13), and at Chattanooga (Wednesday, Dec. 16). Radford women’s basketball looks to build upon the momentum from last season, which included the program’s first home win in the WNIT, a return to the 20-win mark, and a runner-up finish in the Big South regular season and tournament.The Highlanders return several key contributors from the 2025-26 season, including Big South Freshman of the Year Georgia Simonsen, who averaged 11.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. A pair of seniors in Cate Carlson and Anaiah Jenkins fill out the core of a group that brings back seven from last year.Lenoir-Rhyne).
