Jamie Linwood Adkins, 51 of Walton, passed away peacefully July 8, 2026, with his wife and dog by his side.
Jamie was born Oct. 1, 1974, to the late James “Badeye” Adkins and Lena Mae Lytton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Alfred and Sudie Adkins and Brownie and Virginia Lytton; aunts and uncles, Juanita Hollandsworth, Deb and Barry Collins, Nuke Adkins, Duke Adkins, Roger Lytton, Clyde and Von Lytton, and Pat and Homer Taylor; cousin, Todd Collins who was more like a brother to Jamie; brother-in-law, Luke Lucas as well as numerous other family members and friends and wife Kimberly Raye Adkins.
Jamie is survived by his wife and caregiver, Leona Lucas Adkins and beloved dog Sassy. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Goey (Leonard) Holmes, Kim Nester, Foster Hollandsworth, Ray (Lois) Lytton and Dale (Joyce) Lytton; special cousin, Marlena (Rodney) who was more like a sister to him; brothers and sisters-in-law and their families, Melissa (Luke’s widow) Lucas and their daughters Samantha (Levi) and Danielle (Hazzard) Lucas, Mark (Stephanie) Lucas, and their family, Megan (Josh) Womack and son Walker, Kaitlin (Will) Lucas and their children Waylon and Kannon Earles, John (Ami) Lucas and their son Ethan, Joe (Laura) Lucas and their children Bethany, Arianna, and Levi Lucas; special lifelong friends Derrick (Beth) Lancaster and Jeff Robertson; and many extended family members, cousins, and friends.
Jamie was a member of the Class of 1992 at Auburn High School, Riner, Virginia and was known for his love of sports including football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and Nascar. He also loved being outdoors hunting and fishing. Jamie loved traveling and was ready to go on a getaway at the drop of a hat.
He was a man of many talents and there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix or figure out when given the chance.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Jessica, Mallory, Taylor and our niece Kaitlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to McCoy Funeral Home to help with final expenses or to Good Samaritan Hospice in Jamie’s memory.
Services will be at Walton Pentecostal Holiness Church, to be announced at a later date.
