Radford tennis advances in state play

Radford’s Allie Mayer had a dominant match in number five singles against Lebanon’s Brooklyn Sutherland, winning 6-0, 6-0 on Friday morning at Virginia Tech’s Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
In number one singles in a Class 2 girls tennis state quarterfinal match, Radford’s Lydia Pratt defeated Lebanon’s Amber Davidson 6-2, 6-0. Radford would win the match 5-0 and advance to the next round.
Radford’s Ellie Steele hits a forehand return in the number two singles match against Lebanon’s Ali Beck. Steele would win 6-2, 6-4.
In number three singles, Radford’s Sammi Winegardner defeated Lebanon’s Mercedes Raguz.
The Bobcats won both the Region 2C Boys and Girls
Singles Championships. Lydia won her fourth Singles
Championship after defeating Floyd 6-2, 6-0 in the
final. Brady won after a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Liberty.
Both players advance to the state Semifinals at Liberty
University on Friday, June 12.
