Ruth Waddell Meade, 99, died peacefully April 23, 2026, in Santa Maria, California where she made her home for the past three years, with her daughter Bonnie Pack.
Ruth was a beautiful person inside and out. She lived life to the fullest and was an inspirational presence. Ruth was an avid golfer throughout her life.
Ruth was born on July 6, 1926 in Glen Alum, West Virginia, to Mae and Walter Waddell. Ruth married Harold Meade in 1946 and they moved to Blacksburg. Ruth was employed by Virginia Tech Electric Service from 1952 to 1984. Upon retirement Ruth and Harold RV’d, played golf and visited family. They were married 52 years.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Harold, son Donnie, and companion Vinton Caulkins.
Her family is grateful for the positive spirit that Ruth embodied and passed on.
Ruth is survived by her daughters Ginger Alexander (Mark), and Bonnie Pack (John Parker), her grandchildren Jeremy Pack (Deborah), Matt Pack (Grace), Mari Galuret (Jérémy), Quoï Alexander (Florian) and Maia Alexander, and her great-grandchildren Lyla Pack, Nova and Hélio Galuret.
