The Virginia Tech Intercollegiate Dressage Team made program history by winning its first national title at the 2026 , held April 22–24 at the in St. Louis.
Competing against 12 of the nation’s top teams, Virginia Tech delivered strong performances across all divisions. Chloe Boyle placed third in First Level, Alyssa Bhacka finished third in Lower Training, and Sophia Barrett earned eighth place in Upper Training. Freshman Brienza Marraccini won the Introductory division, earning the title of national champion.
Virginia Tech riders also excelled in individual competition. Marraccini placed third in Introductory Individual, Barrett finished seventh in Upper Training and third in the IDA Quiz Challenge, and Bhacka and Jordan Atwell-Purcell each earned fifth place in their respective divisions of the quiz challenge.
The 2026 championship marks a significant milestone for the program. The team’s previous highest finish came in 2015, when it earned reserve national champion honors. This year’s victory reflects sustained growth and dedication, establishing Virginia Tech among the nation’s top collegiate dressage programs.
