For the first time in program history, High Point University has secured the No. 1 seed in the Big South Baseball Championship.

The top six teams in the final standings qualified for the league’s double-elimination postseason championship, which will be contested May 20-23 at HomeTrust Park in Asheville, N.C.

The Panthers won their first-ever Big South regular-season championship in 2026, as HPU finished as the outright champion with its 17-7 record in conference play (.708 winning percentage).
Winthrop finished behind High Point in the Big South standings at 15-9 and will be the No. 2 seed – the Eagles’ highest seeding since being No. 1 in 2017.  Both squads receive byes to the second day.

Defending champion USC Upstate and Charleston Southern tied for third in the standings at 13-11, and the Spartans earned the No. 3 seed based on their 2-1 season series win over the Bucs to give CSU the No. 4 seed.

Radford is the No. 5 seed after finishing fifth in the league at 12-12.  Longwood concluded the regular-season in sixth place at 11-13 for the No. 6 and final seed in this year’s tournament – the Lancers’ first conference tournament berth since 2018.
High Point is seeking its second Big South Baseball Tournament crown in three years.  Upstate, which has played in the Championship game in 2023 (runner-up), 2024 (runner-up) and 2025 (champion), is looking to become the league’s first back-to-back champion since 2022 and 2023.

Winthrop (four) and Radford (two) are previous Champions, while Charleston Southern and Longwood are seeking their first-ever Big South Baseball Tournament title.
The 2026 Big South Baseball Championship is being hosted by Explore Asheville at the home ballpark of the Asheville Tourists, and begins Wednesday, May 20 with three games scheduled and concludes Saturday, May 23 with two potential Championship contests starting at 12:00pm.  Every game will be broadcast on ESPN+.  The Big South’s champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Championship.
