The Auburn girls’ soccer team moved to 10-1 for the season with an 8-0 shutout of George Wythe this past week.
Eight different players scored for the lady Eagles led by Sophomore Caroline Fultz who had one goal and three assists.
Senior goalkeeper Kennedy Marshall got the shut out in goal. Auburn is now 10-1, while GW fell to 6-5-2.
Auburn boys shut out GW
Auburn had second half goals from Junior Ethan Sutphin and Senior JT Anderson

Auburn is now 11-0-1. GW fell to 8-6.
Auburn girls over Giles
The Auburn girls’ soccer team shut out Giles 8-0. Sophomore Kaycie Smith had two goals and three assists. Sophomore Caroline Fultz tallied two goals and one assist. Senior Kennedy Marshall recorded the shutout in goal.
Auburn rolls in win over Giles
The boys’ soccer team recently took a 5-0 win over Giles. Senior Jared Bradley had two goals and one assist, while JT Anderson and Wyatt Price finished with a goal and assist. Junior goalkeeper Eli Olinger knotted the shutout.
Blacksburg boys remain unbeaten
In Roanoke, Blacksburg (12-0 record) defeated Patrick Henry (5-2-3 record), 2-1 in OT last Friday night.
With four minutes and 35 seconds left in regulation, Andrew Secre rifled in a left footed shot past Bruin goalkeeper Nathan Pratt (1 save) for a 1-0 Patriot advantage. However, Blacksburg struck back with under two minutes remaining when Ethan Eschenmann’s long throw-in was headed past Patrick Henry goalkeeper (six saves). Hudson Snyder tied the match and sent it into overtime.
In the second overtime with 26 seconds remaining in play, Keanan Kopp’s shot hit Snyder’s hand as he dove to his right and caromed off the goal post to the center of the goal mouth where Alex Doyle was there to knock home the game winner.
Blacksburg downs Christiansburg
Blacksburg moved to 11-0 with a 2-0 win over Christiansburg. Blacksburg scored second half goals by Soren Anderson and Ethan Eschenmann (assisted by Andrew Linden). Nathan Pratt had three saves in goal to earn the shutout.
Auburn baseball over Giles
Auburn snapped their two-game losing streak with a 13-0 win over Giles.
Brody Hensel picked up the win throwing four innings allowing only one infield single on a very, very close play at first and picking up seven strikeouts.
Matthew Altizer pitched the final inning retiring the side in order with two strikeouts. Offensively, Hensel, Altizer, Colin Roark and Brayden Board collected multiple hits as the Eagles pounded out 13 hits.
Hensel, Altizer and Canyon Calhoun scored three runs each and Roark and Jayden Lawrence had two RBI each.
Auburn downs GW in softball
The Auburn softball team was victorious against George Wythe 7-4 on Friday.
Auburn jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Kaylee Ramrattan singled, scoring one run, and Hope Wilson homered to left field, scoring three runs.
George Wythe tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Avery Cline, and a wild pitch.
Auburn then took the lead back in the top of the sixth. An error scored one run, to for a 5-4.
Faith Wilson earned the win for Auburn, surrendering two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Morgan Layne took the loss for George Wythe. The right-handed pitcher went seven innings, surrendering seven runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking five.
Auburn starter Skyler Hodges allowed seven hits and four runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Wilson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Auburn Varsity Eagles with three runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Ramrattan led Auburn with two hits in three at bats. Johnnie Gaynor stole two bases.
Emma Faulkner and Temperence Smith each collected two hits for George Wythe Varsity Maroons. Jadelyn Faulkner, Cline, and Layne each drove in one run for George Wythe.
Auburn dominates Blacksburg
The Auburn softball team easily dispatched Blacksburg Varsity Bruins on Wednesday, 12-1.
Auburn got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kaylee Ramrattan homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Kaylen Mitcham grounded out, scoring one run.
Auburn scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Johnnie Gaynor tripled, scoring two runs, Ramrattan grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.
Auburn then added one run in the third after Gaynor singled down the left field line. The Eagles added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on two hits. Mitcham singled, scoring one run, and Leah Wimmer homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Faith Wilson earned the win, surrendering four hits and zero runs over four and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one.
Sullivan Shealor took the loss for Blacksburg Varsity Bruins. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, giving up 12 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits, striking out none and walking four. Skyler Hodges appeared in relief for Auburn.
Auburn Varsity Eagles piled up 10 hits in the game. Gaynor and Katherine Hall each collected two hits. Gaynor and Ramrattan were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for Auburn.
Keely Semtner went 1-for-2 at the plate and led Blacksburg with one run batted in. Shealor went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Blacksburg in hits.
