Dr. Wayne Cammer Richard died Dec. 16, 2025. He lived with his loving wife Andrea at Brookdale Senior Living in Miramar Beach, Florida.
Wayne was born Nov. 28, 1934, and raised in Blacksburg. His parents were Claude Eldon Richard and Mary Lee Dobbin. He was a 1952 graduate of Blacksburg High School and a 1956 MS graduate of Virginia Tech in Chemical Engineering. While at VPI, he was a Sgt. in Company N (Air) in the Corp. of Cadets, a member of the German Club, the American Institute of Chemical Engineering (President), played on the varsity golf team and was a member of the Monogram Club. He was a faithful Hokie the rest of his life, even convincing a local restaurant in Destin, Florida to hang a Virginia Tech pennant near the TV.
He went to work for Union Carbide Corp. in Charleston, W.Va. but later decided to get his PHD at Vanderbilt University (1966) and then started working in the medical field in Nashville, Tenn. Later he moved to Florida and started his own clinical psychologist practice in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, which he did until he retired. He was a faithful and active member of the Good News United Methodist Church in Santa Rosa, Florida where his celebration of life service was held.
